The Program

We Believe:

Catalyst Art Academy believes that intensive, individual, and contemporary art instruction can help creative and innovative students focus and improve their personal art practice as well as leverage their work in a portfolio or supplement in competitive college application processes.

The Academy Structure:

Each multi-week session is comprised of Instructional Studio class time that meets the student where they are at, and helps them individually shape their own growth. Class activites and themes change, and we are always creating opportunities for our students, whether it is Open Studio time, Master Class and/or lecture events, an exhibition opportunity, or scheduled presentations by post secondary Art programs and colleges. Scheduled classes will run in 4-6 week sessions, calendar permitting, and some special events are scheduled based on professional availability and when the overall calendar allows.

The Commitment:

Students may attend any and all classes, however a student must attend a minimum number of instructional periods to remain in good standing. Poor attendance may result is being asked to reapply and resubmit work for consideration in another session and/or losing your spot in the program.

The Details:

While we except students on an open sign up basis, we encourage students to apply for admission and practice showing and speaking about their work. The admission process allows students to demonstrate a commitment to the work involved in intensive study. Applications are digital and can be found here.

The Cost:

Fall Session 1 Catalyst Academy costs $250. Contact us for for questions regarding needs-based tuition assistance.

Location:

For the 2021-2022 school year, Catalyst Art Academy will be housed in the Guild of Creative Art in Shrewsbury, NJ.
